From Giorgio Moroder and Michael Jackson to John Williams and Vangelis, from italo disco and synth wave, to orchestral film scores and classic TV theme tunes, I recreate everything by ear and from scratch.

I love it Julian, is this your new track in progress? I started this song about 2 years ago and got to exactly this point, decided my Scottish accent didn't suit the narrative and binned it lol. But not to say one of my posher sounding friends couldn't do the voice over, one day, maybe 🤔. Looking forward to it though, I know you have cracking orchestral sounds.
It's one of a few works in progress 😁. I'm definitely not rushing anything anymore as the algorithm just doesn't care about musicians and it's exhausting trying to please it.... So my foot is most definitely off the gas currently. I think it would be funny to hear the script for this in a Scottish accent😆.

That's good though, no point putting pressure on yourself, I keep flitting between different projects, just enjoying the creative process but I have finished two songs so may get a video done soon.
I've got this on a cassette tape. I also found a few websites that will let you download old radio shows (dramas, comedies, horror/suspense, and kids' programs) for free. I filled up a couple of flash drives with these old shows.

For supersaw (lead sound), open 2 voices, both sawtooth waveforms, detune one a bit and pan them left and right, throw one a little chorus and reverb.

There's a video on my channel where I talk about the VSTs I use for my 80s covers. The short version here is I use FM8 and Retrologue2 a lot, and I blend lots of sounds together for each part.
I'd wish you would post which VST plugins/ synths you use on each song, which give us others inspiration :)

Thanks Ge0. Yes, lots of projects on the boil, but I've decided to put less pressure on myself so I'm just working on all of them and seeing which one I like doing the most, rather than picking one and pushing to finish it. I wore myself out a bit a few weeks ago and it was a reminder to myself to make sure I enjoy the process and it doesn't start to feel like a job.
@@juliancroot yes, just enjoy it. I said I'd do a number of short TV themes. I've finished Rockford Files I put up last week, completed The Return of the Saint music but struggling to bring together an interesting video for it so I'm just playing about with other things and now got distracted with unfinished projects from a while ago lol. I haven't focused on anything yet so will see where it takes me lol. Although I should really do the video for ROTS. I'd like to add an animated stick man character into the video but that's learning a whole new skill which I definitely don't have time for lol. Looking forward to your next production whatever it may be 🙂
